Red. Do you have any red in your home? My kitchen is red. My goal for my kitchen was high shine RED red- like red patent leather or a red sports car or that perfect red nail polish. I didn't QUITE achieve it but it's still really good! ;) My dining room also has some red in it as well. If you are afraid to go all out it's ok- you can always use red in splashes and the impact is still there. Love red! What about you? Hugs, Fee

This last one is actually my favorite. It is simple and sweet and wearable in so many ways. I would take a dress like this and dress it up or down. I would wear different belts (or ribbons as belts) and shoes with it (from sandals to dress shoes) and different shrugs and sweaters over it (even a light weight pull-over so just the skirt is showing), with different tights (or no leggings at all). This is practically a staple! Very, very sweet.

In honor of Thanksgiving my post today is The Giving Tree. The book was given to my nephew by his Auntie recently and we read it this morning (Thanksgiving) at the breakfast table while eating Tim's delicious chocolate chip pancakes! A great reminder to be thankful for all that life has to give us and not be greedy for more.

Once there was a tree....

and she loved a little boy.
And everyday the boy would come
and he would gather her leaves
and make them into crowns
and play king of the forest.
He would climb up her trunk
and swing from her branches
and eat apples.
And they would play hide-and-go-seek.
And when he was tired,
he would sleep in her shade.
And the boy loved the tree....
very much.
And the tree was happy.
But time went by.
And the boy grew older.
And the tree was often alone.
Then one day the boy came to the tree
and the tree said, "Come, Boy, come and
climb up my trunk and swing from my
branches and eat apples and play in my
shade and be happy."
"I am too big to climb and play" said
the boy.
"I want to buy things and have fun.
I want some money?"
"I'm sorry," said the tree, "but I
have no money.
I have only leaves and apples.
Take my apples, Boy, and sell them in
the city. Then you will have money and
you will be happy."
And so the boy climbed up the
tree and gathered her apples
and carried them away.
And the tree was happy.
But the boy stayed away for a long time....
and the tree was sad.
And then one day the boy came back
and the tree shook with joy
and she said, "Come, Boy, climb up my trunk
and swing from my branches and be happy."
"I am too busy to climb trees," said the boy.
"I want a house to keep me warm," he said.
"I want a wife and I want children,
and so I need a house.
Can you give me a house ?"
" I have no house," said the tree.
"The forest is my house,
but you may cut off
my branches and build a
house. Then you will be happy."

And so the boy cut off her branches

and carried them away

to build his house.

And the tree was happy.

But the boy stayed away for a long time.

And when he came back,

the tree was so happy

she could hardly speak.

"Come, Boy," she whispered,

"come and play."

"I am too old and sad to play,"

said the boy.

"I want a boat that will

take me far away from here.

Can you give me a boat?"

"Cut down my trunk

and make a boat," said the tree.

"Then you can sail away...

and be happy."

And so the boy cut down her trunk

and made a boat and sailed away.

And the tree was happy

... but not really.

And after a long time

the boy came back again.

"I am sorry, Boy,"

said the tree," but I have nothing

left to give you -

My apples are gone."

"My teeth are too weak

for apples," said the boy.

"My branches are gone,"

said the tree. " You

cannot swing on them - "

"I am too old to swing

on branches," said the boy.

"My trunk is gone, " said the tree.

"You cannot climb - "

"I am too tired to climb" said the boy.

"I am sorry," sighed the tree.

"I wish that I could give you something....

but I have nothing left.

I am just an old stump.

I am sorry...."

"I don't need very much now," said the boy.

"just a quiet place to sit and rest.

I am very tired."

"Well," said the tree, straightening

herself up as much as she could,

"well, an old stump is good for sitting and resting

Come, Boy, sit down. Sit down and rest."

And the boy did.

And the tree was happy.

What do you think Ladies? How do you carry your phones? When I'm wearing jeans it will fit in my pocket but oftentimes it doesn't fit in dress pant pockets. If I'm wearing a skirt there's no pocket at all! Do you use a phone case that you clip to your belt? (I did that for work but it's too bulky to wear out) If you use something like these please let me know your opinion on how easy it is to get the phone out when it rings and how you like it!

I needed to see this today and I wonder if you did too? I read somewhere that the day you feel you just can't take time for yourself is the day you need it the most. I need to remember that.

Don't forget to take a few moments every couple of hours today to just relax.

Here are a few ideas: enjoying a hot cup of tea/coffee/cocoa, taking your break in your car to listen to some music, taking time to meditate and deep breathe, taking a short walk or stopping to write yourself a to-do list of just the most important things you need to get done so you can keep yourself focused, organized and not so overwhelmed. Go to bed a little earlier on the days you feel more stress. Don't forget to eat well and drink plenty of water. Nothing feels worse than overeating especially when it's the wrong foods. You'll feel better about yourself and will strengthen your immune system (which weakens with stress).

Eliminating nonessential possessions freed us from many of the emotions associated with past lives that were keeping us stuck there. And clearing our home has allowed us the freedom to shape our lives today around our most important values.

Choosing to live in the past or the future not only robs you of enjoyment today, it robs you of truly living. The only important moment is the present moment. With that goal in mind, consider this list of ten tips below to start living your life in the present:

Remove unneeded possessions. Minimalism forces you to live in the present. Removing items associated with past memories or lives frees us up to stop living in the past and start living in the present.
Smile. Each day is full of endless possibilities! Start it with a smile. You are in control of your attitude every morning, keep it optimistic and expectant.
Fully appreciate the moments of today. Soak in as much of today as you possibly can – the sights, the sounds, the smells, the emotions, the triumph, and the sorrow.
Forgive past hurts. If you are harboring resentment towards another human being because of past hurts, choose to forgive and move on. The harm was their fault. But allowing it to impact your mood today is yours.
Love your job. If you just “survive” the workweek constantly waiting for the next weekend “to get here,” you are wasting 71% of your life (5 out of 7 days). there are two solutions: 1) find a new job that you actually enjoy (it’s out there), or 2) find something that you appreciate about your current career and focus on that rather than the negatives.
Dream about the future, but work hard today. Dream big. Set goals and plans for the future. But working hard today is always the first step towards realizing your dreams tomorrow. Don’t allow dreaming about tomorrow to replace living in today.
Don’t dwell on past accomplishments. If you are still talking about what you did yesterday, you haven’t done much today.
Stop worrying. You can’t fully appreciate today if you worry too much about tomorrow. Realize that tomorrow is going to happen whether you worry about it or not. And since worry has never accomplished anything for anybody, redirect your mental energy elsewhere.
Think beyond old solutions to problems. Our world is changing so fast that most of yesterday’s solutions are no longer the right answers today. Don’t get locked into a “but that’s how we’ve always done it” mentality. Yesterday’s solutions are not today’s solutions and they are certainly not tomorrow’s solutions.
Conquer addictions. Addictions in your life hold you hostage. They keep you from living a completely free life today. Find some help. Take the steps. And remove their influence over your life.

If you can only live one moment at a time, you might as well make it the present…

Dogs that need help this time of year

Was just thinking about all of the dogs that might be cold tonight....

Our water froze again last night.
My sister’s ears now have frostbite.
We huddled up to Momma to try to stay warm
As she shivered beside us in the cold winter storm.
She cried and cried to tell of our pain.
But all of her cries went unanswered in vain.
It’s morning now - will there be any food?
We’ll pick through the spoiled and look for some good.
We heard them say the truck is coming today.
Momma’s so sad ‘cause they’ll take us away.
Don’t they understand we’re too young to go?
Little pups like us still need Momma so.
Here they come. Off we go - no time for goodbye.
How many will make it? How many will die?
The cage is now empty. Momma’s all alone
In the tiny wire prison that is her home.
She cries and wonders is it God’s will
To spend her whole life in a puppy mill?
She prays for someone to take her away
To a home with a yard and children to play.
And a family to love her, who really will care
And accept all the love she’s so desperate to share.
She once was a tiny pup like me
Who didn’t deserve this. Why can’t they see?
I’d do what any good son would
And take her place if only I could.
To see her free would be so nice
After all she’s had to sacrifice.
But I can do nothing, no matter how hard I try.
So I just say " love you, Momma. Goodbye."

"I was 12 when I decided I wanted to get a dog. I had my heart set on a Maltese and we found a breeder that had the little girl I wanted. When we got there, it was an older farm house, but I loved the little puppy and I knew I wanted to take her home with me. She was very dirty and very shy. She didn't even want to move, but I just thought that she was scared to meet new people. We asked to see the parents and the breeder was like “NO!” instantly. We also wanted to see their breeding operations, but that also was a no. We should have taken these as signs, but we took the puppy home.

London warmed up to us fairly quickly and I grew a strong bond with her. A few months later, she started getting super sick and we had tons of vet bills. She just kept getting sicker and sicker and nothing would help her. It turns out she had diseases and her lungs didn't develop, so when she got pneumonia she ended up passing away.
I had only had London for about a year, and she was only 1 and a half; when she passed. I believe she was from a puppy mill and I want to raise awareness to everyone buying a puppy."
